Personalised session plans

Students benefit from different plans, depending on a variety of factors, such as time left on the course, whether their school work is inconsistent or the exam technique needs the most work.

I will quickly find the best plan to suit the individual needs of the student in the introductory session. This may include: reinforcement of school work each week, a variety of different topics identified as weaknesses, or building from the ground up. Please refer to the 'session plans' section for a more detailed look at the styles of sessions.
Gain confidence and feel challenged

I will ensure my students are working to a very high standard through mostly formative assessment. This means adapting the tutoring to take advantage of the students current knowledge, and planning accordingly. This approach means I am constantly assessing students in a non-stressful way to ensure their high quality of work. There is exam preparation under timed conditions, but that is something that will only come when the student is knowledgeable and ready.

Work in the sessions is designed to be fluid to achieve the target aim, but alongside developing a well rounded knowledge of the topic and handling some challenging exam questions.
Individual learning styles

No student will learn in the same way. I believe there is no ‘one size fits all rule’ in education, and with tutoring it is possible to teach in a way which truly fits the student. I am experienced with a wide variety of students and can adapt well to the different styles I am presented with. I am a reflective practitioner, and will constantly analyse my own work to ensure I am improving as a professional and developing new ways to get the best out of my students and finding new ways to unlock that potential.

In essence, I am not a tutor that will force a particular style because it is mine. Students enjoy the freedom to learn and enjoy, while ensuring an excellent performance in the exam.
My style

I believe in a very fundamental approach to learning. Equip yourself with a toolbox of knowledge much smaller than if you were to just prepare yourself for a set number of scenarios. Use your toolbox of knowledge to apply to any situation you could be presented with, with confidence and high understanding and be ready for anything an examiner could throw at you.
